GP Koirala Foundation Distributes Free Food in New York for Thanksgiving

The Girija Prasad Koirala Foundation America organized a free food distribution event at its office in Woodside, New York, in collaboration with the Persaud Community Affairs Pantry. On the occasion of Thanksgiving, one of the most significant American holidays, the foundation provided free food, including frozen chicken, fruits, and vegetables, to 150 people. As part of our social responsibility, we distributed essential food items. The President of Persaud Community Affairs Pantry Inc., Ms. Jeany Persaud, provided fresh food, fruits, and vegetables and collaborated with GPK Foundation America. We appreciate Ms. Persaud’s leadership and contribution to our community,” said Somnath Ghimire, president of the Girija Prasad Koirala Foundation USA. According to him, the foundation is committed to various social service initiatives across the United States.

The event was led by Suvarna Lama, vice president of the Foundation’s America Chapter, with support from active members, including Jeevan Kumar Shrestha, Amita Shrestha, Nirmala Baral, Pasang Sherpa Goparma, Lakpa Sherpa, Santosh Balnet, Dhruv Jyoti Shrestha, Deepak Rayamajhi, Adit Sibakoti, Yogendra Adhikary, and several other dedicated social workers.In recognition of the foundation’s contributions, several prominent leaders and officials, including U.S. Senate Majority Leader Chuck Schumer, Congresswoman Grace Meng, New York City Mayor Eric Adams, former Mayor Bill de Blasio, Comptroller Brad Lander, City Council Speaker Adrienne Adams, and Public Advocate Jumaane Williams, extended their felicitations to the foundation. Queens District Attorney Melinda Katz, Brooklyn Borough President Alfonso Reynoso, Queens Borough President Donovan Richards, and several New York State Senators and Assembly members also acknowledged the foundation’s social causes.With a mission centered on the slogan “Sewa Nai Dharma” (Service is Religion), the foundation has assisted over 30,000 individuals from diverse communities. “We all seek happiness, and by working together, we can achieve it,” the foundation emphasized.
